Maintenance
'Maintenance' is an essential component of the physiotherapists role. Regular appointments allow us to make comparisons to previous assessments which therefore enables identification of changes in your animal before they become a clinical problem. Prevention is better than cure after all. As Russel Guire of Centaur Biomechanics says "‘All horses are asymmetric as are all riders, but we must work as a team to address any asymmetries that we can in order to better support the horse to be able to withstand dynamic forces” - which in turn may reduce the incidence of injury
Lynne assists owners who compete and work within a variety of canine and equine performance sports. Performance enhancement is achieved through optimisation of musculoskeletal function through manual physiotherapy in conjunction with environmental modification, targeted exercise prescription and injury prevention.

"Prevention is better than cure"
This can not be emphasised enough in regards to veterinary physiotherapy. The majority of significant musculoskeletal injuries are the result of long-term micro trauma which can be prevented when weaknesses are identified early by your veterinarian and veterinary physiotherapist working together.
Equine and canine rehabilitation is conducted through several physiotherapeutic modalities that are selected for each patient based upon their individual needs. Methods are applied through guidance and communication with your veterinary surgeon amongst other members of the multidisciplinary team. This team effort is essential in order to progress your animal towards your specific rehabilitation goals.

Geriatric Management
Lynnes university dissertation investigated the effects of home-prescribed cavaletti exercise in geriatric dogs. Results showed improvements in many kinematic parameters, sparking an interest in geriatric care. Your physiotherapist can improve the mobility and welfare of your geriatric dog and Lynne feels passionately about the benefits of hydrotherapy to geriatric dogs and is able to offer this service as a member of the Theravet (Chipperfield) team.
